      VIGL STATEMENT

           January 30, 2025

Statement from the VIGL Operations Team:

“Since VIGL’s arrival to the United States Virgin Islands in 2015, we have worked tirelessly to fulfill our mission of revitalizing the Territory.

Over the years, we have provided meaningful employment to nearly 90 Virgin Islanders at our two hotels and casino, contributed over $500,000 to charitable organizations, and hosted numerous free concerts for the community. We’ve also made significant investments to improve local infrastructure, including providing free lighting along the boardwalk in Christiansted.

However, on Tuesday of this week, the Government of the Virgin Islands filed a lawsuit with the apparent goal of removing VIGL from managing the Randall “Doc” James (RDJ) Racetrack in St. Croix. As we carefully review the details of the suit, we want to assure the people of the Virgin Islands that we have always had the clear intention to develop the RDJ racetrack into a world-class facility that can provide lasting benefits to the community and return sanctioned horse racing to St. Croix.

Since taking on our racing projects we have invested over $19 million into restoring and improving racing in the United States Virgin Islands. Most recently we spent nearly $500,000 to repair the barn roofs at RDJ. Additionally, we completed the first phase of resurfacing the racetrack just this past Sunday. These investments are part of our ongoing commitment to bringing live racing back to the Virgin Islands, creating jobs, and providing entertainment and opportunities for local businesses.

As we assess the path forward, and given the Government’s efforts to remove us, rest assured VIGL remains deeply committed to our customers, our employees, and to the Virgin Islands and its People.”

About VIGL: VIGL Operations, LLC, currently operates the flagship Caravelle Hotel & Casino as well as the historic Company House Hotel in downtown Christiansted, St Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, employing 90 team members across those properties. It has begun redeveloping the Randall “Doc” James Racetrack site on the west side of St. Croix, to include the brand-new casino to be known as Caravelle West at Randall “Doc” James Racetrack.
